Izzo Alex Duetto (Mark III)
The Izzo Alex Duetto is the dual boiler rotary pump variant of the Alex commercial espresso machine series.This machine is unique, being the only e-61 dual boiler, rotary pump machine with tank and plumbed versatility available in the world. It has a tank but can run in plumbed configuration by turning a lever behind the large drip tray. Operation is near silent and a low energy mode allows operation of just the brew boiler for espresso drinkers wishing to minimise energy consumption.
Our standard PID configuration assigns priority to both boilers for optimum steam performance. This configuration draws around 8A. The PID can also be configured to alternate between boilers with priority to the brew boiler and a lower total energy draw.
Current stock is the Alex Duetto Mark III variant. This revised machine adds the following enhancements:
- The tank has a removable cover and can be easily filled with a jug
- Tank low level beep override switch for use in plumbed mode. The tank no longer needs to be partially filled
- New design feet with rubber insert to ensure that the machine cannot move on the bench
- Improvements to internal stainless steel quality
- New environment friendly packaging
- Complimentary Alex Duetto tamper and 2 tins of Izzo coffee beans
Temperature stability is brilliant with both boilers being controlled by a PID and independent solid state relays. Milk texture performance is also excellent and perfect microfoam is easy to obtain.
We believe that the Izzo Alex Duetto is a strong competitor to the LaMarzocco GS/3 in that it has similar specifications but with an e-61 group rather than a saturated group. The Alex Duetto retails for little more than 1/2 the price of the GS/3. This includes a comprehensive bench test, 1kg of fresh specialty beans and backwash detergent.
